Growing Up

I grew up in Anchorage, Alaska.  I was very active in sports in high school.  My passion for hiking began in the 5th grade when I started to go on Tuesday hikes with my mom’s hiking group in the summers.  In college, I had foot surgery on my foot and did not want to gain a bunch of weight during recovery.

My good friend would come over once a week and we would meal prep.  I was going to culinary school at the time and wanted to open up a wedding cakery.  However I started to realize that I would feel so much more fulfilled if I made a living off of helping people stay fit and lead an active lifestyle.

Cooking Experience

Little known fact, I interned at Brown’s Court Bakery in Charleston, SC as a capstone for my culinary arts degree.

I figured out that cooking vegetables correctly was actually fun and vegetables could actually taste good.  From then on I’ve never looked back.  “Avaflava” was always a nickname I had in high school.  I now live in Boise, Idaho and fly home once a year to race my favorite race: Mt. Marathon in Seward, Alaska.  I love to motivate others to stay hungry and stay dreaming!
